Description

Our first TWO Sav deals today have SOLD OUT already! So we have another real treat for our Grab One Bottle Sauvignon Blanc lovers today! A Gimblett Gravels Hawkes Bay Savvy from the famous Te Awa winery at only $9 per bottle!

This Te Awa Left Field Sauvignon Blanc 2010 displays a cocktail of fruit and has a base of tropical melon. Pungently aromatic in the varietal sweetpea/ passion-fruit spectrum, whilst retaining wonderful snow pea and tropical flavours. The winemaking was focused around preserving those notes and ensuring the wine was bottled dry with the seashore freshness of the New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc style.

Te Awa Winery, a single estate vineyard nestled in the heart of the Gimblett Gravels wine growing region in Hawkes Bay. In the 50 hectare vineyard soils are the trails of the old Ngaruroro River which meandered through the region until a huge flood changed its course in 1867.

The Windmill has played a significant role in the history of Te Awa. Long before the vineyard was established in the mid 1990’s this property was sheep grazing country, like much of the land in this region. However due to the heavy gravel and free draining soils it was very difficult to grow regular feed, hence a windmill was absolutely necessary to provide water for the constant irrigation of the land.

The Windmill is no longer in use, but remains a dominant feature at the entrance to the Te Awa vineyard and is a symbol of importance on all Te Awa wines.
