For all our Sav fans, we have a 6 bottle case of three Sauvignon Blancs from arguably the world's best Sav region - Marlborough. This mixed case highlights the great wines that Marlborough can produce! Each case contains two bottles of the 90 point Rapaura Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2010, two bottles of Silver Medal Wairau Hills Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2010, plus two bottles of the Paua Bay Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2011.
The Wairau Hills Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2010 wine is lively and pungent, with aromas of gooseberry, hawthorn and citrus. The wine shows crisp acidity and has a fresh lingering finish. The wine is drinking extreamly well at the moment but will develop well over the next twenty four months. The company is certainly in good hands as at the head of the team are famous NZ winemaker Alan McCorkindale with Chris and Judi Simmonds who were foundation growers for Cloudy Bay.
The Rapaura Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2010 was rated 90 points from Sam Kim at Wine Orbit. Excellent quality Marlborough Sauvignon at a great price. It's intensely aromatic and engaging on the nose with grapefruit, peach and capsicum characters. The palate is generously flavoured with excellent fruit weight and bright acidity, finishing long and satisfying.
The Paua Bay Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2011 is typically pungent, yielding flavours of gooseberry and passionfruit with a hint of melon and citrus. The palate is lively with racy acid, good length and soft creamy complexity imparted from its time on yeast lees. If you're a Marlborough Savvy lover, you'll know what sort of treat you'll be getting with this wine.
Three great Marlborough Savvies at just $9 per bottle? Splendid!
