A multi award winning Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Riverby Estate derives its name from the tranquil Opawa River, which winds through the Marlborough Region of New Zealand The river's rich resources were invaluable to the local farmers as well as the source of their favourite meal; the Rainbow Trout. In the 1930s Opawa River was diverted to stop Blenheim from flooding and the landscape was changed forever. Its redirection inadvertently transformed Riverby Estate into one of New Zealand's finest wine growing properties.
We believe that this wine's reviews speak for themselves:
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit: The wine is fragrant and vibrant showing classic herbaceous characters with ripe feijoa and passionfruit notes. It's succulent and lively on the palate showing excellent weight and harmony, leading to a lingering crisp finish. The wine is intensely flavoured for immediate drinking, but it is well structured and balanced, suggesting it will evolve nicely too. At its best: now to 2014.
Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate: The 2010 Sauvignon Blanc displays a pronounced nose of ripe apples, peaches and asparagus with hints of capsicum and white pepper. Medium bodied with a good line of racy acidity cutting through the concentrated herbal and apple flavours, it has a lengthy finish. Drink it now to 2013.
Michael Cooper: Ripely scented, full-bodied wine with melon/lime flavours and crisp acidity. Tangy and sweet-fruited, with good depth.
