Karaka Point Vineyard was established in 1994 by the late Mik Martin, wife Anne and their three daughters, the Martin family continue to produce award winning wines of unique character and fine quality reflecting the loving nurturing of the vines from budburst to harvest.

Regarding the Weka River Waipara Riesling 2006, back in '07 Peter Saunders said; "Firmly bodied and aromatic Riesling unfolding in no apparent rush. Sensible 12.5% alcohol, lots of fruit still to emerge, a good looking opening number for this new winery on the western side of Waipara. Serious enough as a style for bottle age to bring many gains." He was right on the money! This wine shows lots of lovely lime juice lusciousness, held in check by a fine backbone of racy acidity. Subtle floral notes on the nose... think Jasmine on a warm summer's evening. Would work wonderfully with Vietnamese and southern Asian food, fresh fish, or chilled on its own after a busy afternoon's work.

The Kaimira Estate Brightwater Riesling 2007's fruity characters have given way to the interest and intrigue of bottle development. Lots of toasty notes are present on the nose, but still some gentle lime and blossom in the background. The palate is dry and the acidity has mellowed to give something quite seamless, with the toastiness giving savoury characters that would make this an excellent partner for food (think chicken or pork dishes). Wine Writer Bob Campbell gave it 83 points and said "Rich and creamy Riesling with more weight than many other dry examples. Mineral, lime/citrus and apple flavours dominate."

This 4-Star (Bob's Wine reviews) Torlesse 2009 Chardonnay was grown, hand crafted and produced to the standard of excellence, in the unique terrior of the Waipara. The grapes for each Torlesse wine is grown on site at the winery's own vineyards and then bottled alongside in the winery which was established in 1991.

This Chardonnay was produced from a mix of grapes from two of the wineries vineyards; the Rayner and McKenzie Vineyards which are situated at latitude 43° South, thus giving a range of ripeness hence the different flavours.

The structure of the wine reflects the soil type, the heavier soils provide body and structure, the lighter soils add fresh aromatics. This wine shows ripe citrus flavours, hints of mineral characters and subtle spicy oak from a portion of the blend that was stored in barriques. The wine was made in a light oak style with the main focus on fruit. Enjoy with chicken, pork or seafood dishes.

The screw top closure on this wine is used to preserve fresh fruit flavours and to allow the wine to age gracefully and reach its full potential with no bottle-to-bottle variation.

The Devon Road Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2009 was made from selected estate fruit near the stony banks of Marlborough's Wairau River. Lifted aromas of passionfruit and gooseberry abound.
