Murray's Road Wines says they annually produces some 10,000 cases, with the majority of these being exported around the world. We're lucky enough to have snagged some for our GrabOne Bottle friends today, and better yet, it's a steal at $9 per bottle!
The aroma is a hint of things to come - creamy, nutty and rich with a definite whiff of nougat. There are some sweet, stewed fruit notes but the creamy malo characteristics are to the fore. The palate is smooth and unctuous, loaded with caramel, toast, cashew, ginger spice and some alcoholic warmth. The buttery, spicy palate continues out to the finish which finishes on some oaky notes. Good buying at the price if you enjoy a powerful malo component in your chardonnay.
Murray's Road is a boutique but growing wine label that unsurprisingly hails from Murray's Rd, Spring Creek. The brand began through Marlborough Grape Producers, a close-knit group of growers from the Spring Creek area.
