Pinot Noir is the most popular red wine in New Zealand so we have decided to introduce to you three beauties from around the country - there are two bottle each of the following wines: Herald Cove Marlborough Pinot Noir 2009, Monowai Hawkes Bay Pinot Noir 2011, and rounding the trio out is the Anchorage Nelson Pinot Noir 2011.
The Monowai Hawkes Bay Pinot Noir 2011 is a deep burgundy coloured wine. Ripe berry fruit aromas are underscored by hints of leather and spice. Up front flavours of ripe cherries and raspberry are balanced with structured tannins to ensure balance and length. Excellent drinking now, the structure and acid balance of this wine will ensure that it continues to develop and can be cellared for 5 years or more.
All the way from sunny Nelson, comes the wonderful Anchorage Nelson Pinot Noir 2011. An elegant fruit-driven style, deep luscious cherry in colour. The nose is blackberries, boysenberries and plums with a hint of vanilla. The palate includes subtle oak and mouth-filling berry flavours with hints of pepper, spice and truffles.
The Herald Cove Marlborough Pinot Noir 2009 grapes were selected from a single vineyard then crafted into a deep ruby coloured, well balanced, wine filled with aromas and flavours of cherries, raspberries and blackcurrants, complemented by hints of French oak. This wine is an example of an elegant style perfect to partner with beef and lamb dishes.
With this mixed pack you will get to try a range of Pinots from three different areas, which is a great way to flex your taste buds, as well as ensuring you have a Pinot Noir to offer everyone who drops by.
