With Winter now upon us, perhaps you're looking for white wines with a little more depth and weight than your standard light Summer Sippers? If so you'll love this mixed Chardonnay Selection, three different wines in a 6-bottle case at only $11 per bottle.
The Gibbston Highgate Incognito Central Otago Chardonnay 2010 is intense straw-yellow with green hues. On the nose, hints of subtle oak influence, floral aromas intermingle with white peach and stone fruit flavours, and caramel fragrances. The palate has a smooth and full-body texture, with refreshing acidity, splash of citrus fruit and long finish emphasized by the lasting minerality of Gibbston fruit.
Hawke's Bay delivers ripe Chardonnay in great condition year after year. The Roy's Hill Chardonnay 2001 was given a cool, controlled ferment in stainless steel to maximize aroma and flavour. A lively, fruit-driven Chardonnay. Crisp citrus and green apple flavours softened with fresh pineapple. This wine is drinking well now. Roy's Hill is named after a local landmark overlooking the acclaimed C.J Pask vineyards.
Spinyback back is the second label of Waimea Estates and is renowned for producing excellent value for money wines. The Waimea Estate Spinyback Chardonnay 2009 was awarded 4 stars by Sam Kim of Wine Orbit who said "A nicely maturing Chardonnay with complex citrus, stone fruit, vanilla and roasted nut characters on the nose. The palate is lively and juicy with good weight and a refreshing finish. A lovely medium-bodied Chardonnay. At its best now to 2013." It also picked up Bronze at the New Zealand International Wine Show 2010.
