Pinot Noir is the most popular red wine in New Zealand so we have decided to introduce to you three beauties from around the country - there are two bottle each of the following wines: Herald Cove Marlborough Pinot Noir 2009, Bibby Pinot Noir 2010 and rounding the trio out is the Aspire Pinot Noir 2010.
The Herald Cove Marlborough Pinot Noir 2009 grapes were selected from a single vineyard then crafted into a deep ruby coloured, well balanced, wine filled with aromas and flavours of cherries, raspberries and blackcurrants, complemented by hints of French oak. This wine is an example of an elegant style perfect to partner with beef and lamb dishes.
Bob Campbell says of the Silver Medal Winning Clifford Bay Marlborough Pinot Noir 2010: "Delicately perfumed wine with gentle floral and cherry flavours. Soft-textured wine with subtle sweetness balanced by fruity acidity. The wine has lovely purity and a charming ethereal quality". Clifford Bay Pinot Noir is always a wine of elegance and balance. The bright garnet colour opens the door for vibrant aromatics packed with black cherries, violets, red fruits and spicy French oak. The flavours are intensely fruity, lush and delicious
Raymond Chan writes of the Aspire Pinot Noir 2010: "Moderately deep ruby-red colour, lighter on rim. This has a soft, but voluminous bouquet with a n array of aromas showing strawberry fruit with red florals, cherries and berries with herb notes. Medium bodied, light, lush and juicy strawberry fruit flavours are supported by restrained, but fine-grained tannins. The fruit succulence is enhanced by good acidity and is carried through to a subtle, light finish. This is a light, attractively sweet-fruited Pinot Noir with the fine textures to match firm-flesh seafood and poultry over the next 3-4 years.".
With this mixed pack you will get to try a range of Pinots which is a great way to flex your taste buds, as well as ensuring you have a Pinot Noir to offer everyone who drops by.
