Today we have a 6 bottle case of lovely aromatic white wines! Included in this case are two bottles of the Kaimira Estate Nelson Brightwater Riesling 2007, two bottles of the Milcrest Estate Nelson Sauvignon Blanc 2011 and two bottles of the Turning Point Pinot Gris 2009.
The Turning Point Pinot Gris 2009 is a crisp, fresh and fruit driven Pinot Gris that will tantalize and surprise your taste buds. A luminous golden straw colour with a burnished copper tint. Pink lady apple and spicy pear with sublte lemon zest freshness aromas fill the tasting glass. A mouth filling wine with richness among flavours of white peach, pears, apple crumble and lemon & orange drops and pleasant white spice. A small percentage of the wine was spent in French Oak and blended back with the remainder to further enhance its flavours.
The Kaimira Estate Nelson Brightwater Riesling 2007's fruity characters have given way to the interest and intrigue of bottle development. Lots of toasty notes are present on the nose, but still some gentle lime and blossom in the background. The palate is dry and the acidity has mellowed to give something quite seamless, with the toastiness giving savoury characters that would make this an excellent partner for food (think chicken or pork dishes). Wine Writer Bob Campbell gave it 83 points and said "Rich and creamy Riesling with more weight than many other dry examples. Mineral, lime/citrus and apple flavours dominate."
This Milcrest Estate Nelson Sauvignon Blanc 2011 was made from fruit harvested from predominantly 5 year old vines sourced entirely from the Milcrest Estate vineyard. A long, warm summer resulted in clean fruit arriving in the winery, producing fresh intense passionfruit, gooseberry and citrus fruit driven Sauvignon Blanc flavours and a long lasting, well-balanced long crisp finish.
A perfect selection to drink slightly chilled on these warm Autumn nights.
