Chardonnay is a very versatile wine, as it can be made using different techniques to produce flavours to suit every palate. This is why we have chosen to present to you a mixed case of Chardonnay - allowing you to experience the beauty of three individual wines from 3 different wine-growing regions. Included in this case are two bottles of the Stopbanks Chardonnay 2008, two bottles of the Tolaga Bay Estate Lightly Oaked Chardonnay 2011 and two bottles of the Anchorage Nelson Chardonnay 2010.
You'll love the Anchorage Nelson Chardonnay 2010 - a classic toasty 'vanilla and nuts' creamy Chardonnay all the way from Sunny Nelson. Light pale honey coloured, this oaked Chardonnay opens with vanilla, smokey toasted oak and slight hazelnut overtones on the nose. The initial palate is peach and coconut leading into butterscotch, caramel and vanilla with a lingering oak and hazelnut finish, echoing toasty lees. A soft, approachable and well balanced Chardonnay.
You can't go wrong with Stopbanks Chardonnay 2008. Tropical fruit with hints of mealiness, fine oak, vanilla and butteriness on the nose. A rich, big wine that has ripe fruit flavours of citrus, pineapple and green apples across the palate. Also you will taste a touch of creaminess and vanilla.
The Tolaga Bay Estate Lightly Oaked Chardonnay 2011 was crafted from grapes grown in the free draining soils of our Riverlea vineyard, Tolaga Bay near Gisborne. The grapes harvested in superb condition, lightly crushed with long slow fermentation and delicately oaked have produced a stylish wine that displays complexity and richness on the palate. Enjoy this wine from “The First Vineyard in the World to See the Sun” on the unspoiled East Cape.
