Highlights

  • Three aromatics for a steal at just $9.50 a bottle!
  • The Kaimira Estate Brightwater  Gewurztraminer 2008 picked up a Bronze medal at the International Aromatic Wine Competition 2009.
  • Pair the Butterfish Bay Northland Pinot Gris 2010 with white meats, Asian-style foods, fish, pasta, salads, cheese, and desserts featuring apples or pears.
  • Anchorage consider their wine to be: 'An elegant fruit driven style displaying subtle natural sugars combined with a rounded malolactic mouth-feel'.

Today we have a 6 bottle case of lovely aromatic white wines! Included in this case are two bottles of the medal winning Kaimira Estate Brightwater Nelson Gewurztraminer 2008, two bottles of the Butterfish Bay Northland Pinot Gris 2010 and two bottles of the Anchorage Nelson Viognier 2011.

The Medal-Winning Kaimira Estate Brightwater Nelson Gewurztraminer 2008 shows rose petals, aniseed, gentle spice and juicy sultana (a ripe rather than dried fruit character) on the nose. The wine is off dry with good palate weight and the aniseed spiciness is like a delicate seasoning that doesn’t overpower the fruit. Texture is like a plump nectarine with citrus/navel orange flavours. Rose petal flavours linger on finish.

The Butterfish Bay Northland Pinot Gris 2010 has nashi pear, apple strudel and spice aromas leading into a strikingly full and flavoursome palate showing ripe pear, stone fruit and cinnamon. The richness is complemented by a luscious and harmonious finish reflecting the vintage’s lower yield.

The Anchorage Nelson Viognier 2011 is made in an elegant fruit driven style displaying subtle natural sugars combined with a rounded malolactic mouth-feel. Aromas of white peaches, nectarine and nashi lead into a 2nd tier confectionary note. The palate includes hints of sherbet, balanced by citrus notes. A medium wine, it has a well-balanced acid structure and finishes with a smooth, slightly oily texture.

A perfect selection to drink slightly chilled on these balmy Summer nights.
