Trot around the Globe to Europe with us to check out Red Wine styles from different countries and climates. We have three amazing value imported red wines today (two bottles of each in the case). The JP Chenet Merlot 2010 from France, the Abilius Tempranillo Grenache Cabernet 2010 from Spain and the Rupe Ai Sassi Montepulciano d’Abruzzo 2010 from Italy.
The JP Chenet Merlot 2010 is fruit driven example of this variety with aromas of blackcurrant, cherry and raspberry. The palate is soft and juicy with a well rounded finish. An easy drinking style to match with light meals. A bottle of JP Chenet wine is sold every 2 seconds somewhere in the world. The idea behond these wines was to stand out on a market that was overly-traditional and nervous about self-promotion. With business sense and artistic flare, Joseph Helfrich designed a bottle that was revolutionary: baptized Joséphine, the bottle boasted original curves, a tilted neck and a generous body.
The Abilius Tempranillo Grenache Cabernet 2010 is a classic Spanish blend of Tempranillo, Grenache and Cabernet which produces a sweet, ripe and fruity mouthful that lingers on and on. Not high in alcohol and thus great for a lunchtime quaffer. Abilius is a blend of Tempranillo (40%), Grenache (30%) and Cabernet (30%) which ensures a smooth, rich blend.
The Rupe Ai Sassi Montepulciano d’Abruzzo 2010 is a dry, light-medium bodied wine with lovely flavours of cherries and other red berries. Soft tannins add to the elegance and structure of this easy drinking Montepulciano d’Abruzzo.
